Mr. Jesse Casey
Principal
Mr. Jesse Casey joined East as the Principal in the 22/23 school year. Before coming to East, Mr. Casey was the Principal of The Campus of Virginia Randolph for 9 years in Henrico County, Virginia. Prior to this, he was an Associate and Assistant Principal at the middle school level in Henrico. Mr. Casey began his educational career teaching Social Studies and coaching several sports in Chesapeake, VA. The theme for the 23/24 school year is to "Close the Gap" so that all of our students can succeed.
Mr. Casey is a native North Carolinian. He was born in Charlotte and spent his early childhood there. He is blessed to have 5 children with his beautiful wife, along with their red doberman, Saint. In his free time he enjoys cycling, sports, spending time with his family and going to great restaurants with his wife.

Mr. Brandon Patterson
Assistant Principal
Quad A, 11th grade & 9th H-O
Mr. Patterson joined ECHHS in July of 2020. Prior to his move to the district, he served as a school administrator at the elementary, middle, and high school level in Wake or Durham County for 8 years. In addition, for 11 years, he provided leadership in several areas at the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI), including the NC Teacher and Principal of the Year programs and federal grant programs Title I, Title II, and 21st Century Community Learning Centers.
Mr. Patterson is a native of Durham, and he and his beautiful wife of 25 years, Gerrelyn, have 3 daughters, one in college and twins in high school. He enjoys spending time with his family, watching movies, reading an occasional book, and cheering for Carolina basketball.

Ms. Jeriel Champion
Assistant Principal
Quad C, 12th grade & 9th A-G
Ms. Champion joined East as an Assistant Principal in the 22/23 academic school year. Before this, she was a Mathematics Teacher/Curriculum Writer for Henrico County Public Schools in Richmond, VA for 10 years. She is a passionate, student-centered educator continually seeking to improve learning and school culture.
Ms. Champion enjoys exploring music venues and trying new foods at local restaurants.

Ms. Ashley Lang
Assistant Principal
Quad B, 10th grade & 9th P-Z
Ms. Lang joined East Chapel Hill High School as an assistant principal in June 2026. Prior to this role, she served as a principal intern at Morris Grove Elementary School and as an instructional coach at the middle school level. She also spent many years as an English teacher at East Chapel Hill High School, where she developed strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
Throughout her career, Ms. Lang has been committed to supporting strong instruction, equitable student outcomes, and collaborative school communities. Her leadership experience includes work with curriculum and instruction, beginning teacher support, exceptional children’s services, MTSS, school improvement, and student support systems.
Ms. Lang is excited to return to East Chapel Hill High School in this new role and looks forward to partnering with students, families, teachers, and staff to support student success. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with family, reading, watching a good show or movie, and cheering for Carolina basketball.
